I’m Erica, the baker behind Churchlady Bakes in Social Circle, Georgia. Around here, cookies are oversized, cake deserves a proper slice, and “just a little piece” is between you and the Lord.

I bake Southern sweets inspired by the fellowship hall, the family recipe box, and those women who never let anybody leave without a plate. Think banana pudding, peach cobbler, pecan pie, and other familiar favorites, sometimes baked into a cookie big enough to require a little commitment.

Churchlady Bakes brings that same generous spirit to everything I make: familiar flavors, a few unexpected twists, and something worth sitting down to enjoy. Whether you’re picking up treats for a gathering or claiming one for yourself before you get home, I want you to feel welcome here.

The Heart Behind the Baking

Some of my favorite memories are of old church potlucks, when the little churchladies arrived with their best recipes tucked under a casserole lid. They’d tell you, “Oh, it’s just something I threw together,” then keep an eye on whether you went back for seconds. Everybody was humble, but nobody brought their second-best pound cake.

I loved that mix of generosity and quiet showing off: the handwritten recipes, the dishes you hoped would be there, and the pleasure those women took in feeding people well. A request for the recipe was about the highest compliment you could give, and an empty dish was all the testimony they needed.

That’s the heart behind Churchlady Bakes. I want to bake the treats you remember, look forward to, and insist somebody else needs to try. Something that earns a place at your gatherings … and gives you a little reason to show off when you set it on the table.
